A Divya Desam or Vaishnava Divya Desam is one of the 108 Vishnu temples that are mentioned in the works of the AzhvArs. ”Divya” means “divine” and “Desam” indicates “place of abode” (temple). Of the 108 temples, 105 are in India, one is in Nepal, and the last two are outside the Earthly realms.
In India, they are spread over states of Tamil Nadu (84), Kerala (11), Andhra Pradesh (2), Gujarat (1), Uttar Pradesh (4), and Uttarakhand (3). Muktinath, Saligramam is the only Divya Desam in Nepal. The Divya Desams are revered by the 12 Azhvars in the Divya Prabandhams.
Divya Desa Paasurangal is an effort to provide easy reference and access to the Paasurams sung by various Azhvars on various Divya Desams. This would be very handy when Bhagavathas would want to recite the Paasurams of a specific Divya Desam during their visit to these temples.
